Overview

The world of ‘A Thorn in My Side’ is set in a city not unlike Boston, with older mid century brick buildings and an aesthetic dream like atmosphere. The city encompasses both the bloomtique flower shop where Odette works, as well as her high rise apartment overlooking a beautiful and vintage looking city-scape. The location of the city is never specified, so as to not distract from the central focus of the story which is the character as opposed to the setting.

The ‘Bloomtique’ Flower Shop

The Bloomtique flower shop is a classic shop with a stone exterior and slightly rustic, charming feel to the exterior as well as interior. The shop is on the older side and is nestled in the downtown area of the city.

Odette’s Apartment

Odette’s apartment is eclectic and bright, showcasing her eccentric personality and strong sense of personal style. While small, the apartment is decked head to toe in vibrant and vintage decorations and plants, creating a very cozy space.

The City

The city the story takes place in is inspired by the downtown college areas of Boston, covered in greenery and stunning architecture and stonemasonry. The city-scape is large and beautiful, more dreamy than a regular city may appear.
